Nikon SB-910 Speedlight Flash for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

THE NEW NIKON SB-910 SPEEDLIGHT ROCKETS TO A NEW LEVEL OF POWER AND IS A GAME CHANGER IN CREATIVE LIGHTING CONTROL. A REVOLATIONARY ADVANCE!

Last month Nikon announced their newest flagship SB-910 flashgun. It is a part of the Speedlight range. It replaces the SB-900 while adding to it the simpler interface (GUI) of the older and less powerful SB-700. The SB-910 is more powerful and concurrently simplified. A great combination for almost any serious photographer.

Nikon is known for its versatility in CLS (Creative Lighting System) but with the introduction of the SB-910 they have polished and perfected the already awesome graphic user interface and operating system. The new SB-910’s wide zoom coverage range includes most of the standard focal lengths along with the FX/DX-format that adjusts the zoom settings to accommodate the camera body in use.

The developers of the SB-910 set out to find a way to help photographers that do their work in environments that would normally be quite challenging. In addressing these issues, they were able to deliver portable lighting to the end user with intelligent features and the performance photographers have come to expect from Nikon.

The SB-910 speedlight is made to usher in simple operation and improved LCD menu navigation, with an operating system that features a menu button that is dedicated to fast access to your custom settings as well as stellar LCD graphics for refined control. It doesn’t make any difference if you are using the SB-910 as a remote, a wireless commander or as a on camera flash, it has proved to be both trustworthy and predictable in flash exposure. The engineers at Nikon have done a great job in producing the SB-910 in a way that it adapts smoothly to the challenges that are confronted in the world of a professional photographer.

In case you hadn't noticed, the video below is from the SB-900 but there are many similarities and the SB-910 is not released yet so there are no videos available. As soon as the new videos are available we will update the page.

The new Thermal Cut-Out feature affords the photographer that needs a rapid fire flash the ability to do so without fear that you will overheat his new prized flash. The way it works is as the unit heats up from continuous use, it will automatically space out the time delay for recharging so that it will afford the photographer the ability to keep shooting rather than having to stop and either wait for the unit to cool or change flashguns. To further extend the flashgun’s durability Nikon has used hard-type filters for incandescent and fluorescent balancing the color temperature. When these units are connected to a Nikon D-SLR camera the SB-910 will automatically detect the filter in use and arrange the white balance as a result. As if that is not enough another feature of the flashgun is it is compatible with the entire line of Nikon AF systems. There are three illumination patterns in the new SB-910 (even, center-weighted and standard) which will match up with most all shooting circumstances. If you choose the even pattern the flash from the unit will wash the object out from the center toward the edges and avoid the light falloff. This pattern is best for group photos while shooting indoors. Nikon has incorporated larger guide numbers for the center weighted pattern. This pattern is perfect for those times when you are shooting portraits and when the light falloff doesn’t matter. Of course, the standard pattern works best when conventional coverage is best.

The SB-910 multi-step power zoom covers a range of lenses from 17-200mm and can detect the FX and DX Nikon formats to assist in selecting the appropriate flash.
